Parkinson Society British Columbia is part of the Better Pharmacare Coalition (BPC) which is a joining together of provincial and national health organizations and consumer groups with a mandate to speak on behalf of its 2,000,000 plus members on issues related to the Government of British Columbia's Pharmacare program.  The coalition was formed in 1997 in response to the BC PharmaCare policy development not reflective of the medical literature, best clinical practice and the needs of patients in BC.

The BPC works to ensure appropriate and timely BC PharmaCare program coverage for evidenced-based prescription medications and health products.

The members want improved and timely coverage of medications on the BC drug formulary that will get them out of the hospital and back to work contributing to our provincial economy, not costing it money.
  • The BPC expects the Government to make decisions that are focused on patient needs.
  • The BPC is lobbying for the following:
  • Transparency and public inclusion in all decision-making processes
  • Appropriate and time coverage to quality prescription medications
  • Evidenced-based information on medicines
  • Fairness in BC PharmaCare policies and initiatives
  • Cost-effectiveness not causing harm to patients.
