Parkinson's Disease / Living with Parkinson's / Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions
The challenges that Parkinson's presents have some things in common with those of other chronic health conditions.

An excellent resource to help manage these challenges is "Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, For Ongoing Physical and Mental Health Conditions", available from Bull Publishing Company in Boulder, Colorado 1-800-676-2855.

Topics include:
  • Self-Management
  • Understanding and Managing Common Symptoms
  • Exercise for Fun and Fitness
  • Communicating
  • Sex and Intimacy
  • Advance Directives for Health Care
  • Healthy Eating
  • Medications
  • Treatment Decisions
  • Planning for the Future, and much more
From time to time community workshops are held to teach the principles contained in "Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions". The workshops are presented by the University of Victoria, Centre on Aging.

Please refer to www.coag.uvic.ca/cdsmp/information_cdsmp_program.htm for more information about future series.  Workshops are free and come with the workbook at no charge.
