The Parkinson Canada Research Program funds research into the cure, cause, progression, improved treatment, and/or understanding of Parkinson's disease, related disorders including Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), other Parkinson's conditions, and the impact these diseases have on society.

The available programs for 2022-2024 are:

Pilot Project Grants: This program intends to foster novel, high-potential projects and ideas with a trajectory for major grants with larger granting institutions. One-year duration, maximum funding of $75,000
Basic Research Fellowships: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (MD or PhD) and may be Canadian citizens who propose to train at an Approved Institution located inside or outside of Canada, or international applicants proposing to train at an Approved Institution located in Canada. Two-year duration, $40,000 – $50,000 per year
Clinical Movement Disorders Fellowships: Recipient will undertake clinical training in the subspecialty of Movement Disorders and gain expertise in diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s and may include other movement disorders. One-year duration, $50,000
Clinical Research Fellowships: Recipient training will combine direct experience in the diagnoses and treatment of Parkinson’s and in clinical research. Two-year duration, $50,000 per year
Graduate Student Awards: Candidates must be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program at the PhD level. Candidates may be Canadian citizens who propose to train at an Approved Institution located inside Canada or international applicants proposing to train at an Approved Institution located in Canada, who fulfill the criteria for a student visa. Two-year duration, $10,000 per year
