Due to the increasing demand for peer support groups, Parkinson Society British Columbia (PSBC) is actively recruiting a volunteer Support Group Facilititator to assist in strengthening the Parkinson's community in Surrey.
The responsibilities of the position include:
- Working to create an environment that is safe and respectful, and where participants feel comfortable sharing their experiences, insight and knowledge with others.
- Assisting with the delivery of information, education and resources for people with Parkinson's and there carepartners/families.
- Leading support group meetings once a month, for a couple of hours between September and June.
Facilitators are supported through PSBC through access to information and resources, teleconference calls, bi-annual one-on-one follow-ups, advocacy/awareness campaigns and educational opportunities.
