Parenting with Parkinson's: Impact on Children, Teens, and Young Adults

Dates: Tuesday, November 21
Time: 7:00pm - 8:00pm PT
Fee: Free

Elaine Book, a social worker from the UBC Movement Disorder Clinic, will be conducting a session on the dynamics of parenting with Parkinson’s. The session will focus on how to navigate the challenges that can have an impact on not just the parent living with Parkinson's but also young children, teens, and adult children.

The physical limitations and demands of Parkinson's disease management can be emotionally taxing, which can interfere with providing emotional support and stability to children. Therefore, parenting styles may need to be adapted. Elaine will discuss common emotions and complex feelings that family members might be experiencing in the face of changes, acceptance, caregiving responsibilities, stigma, and social isolation.

During the session, Elaine will also explore how to best support young family members and promote family wellness in light of these new realities. Don't miss out on this informative and insightful session!
