Every year, indviduals and organizations around the world recognize April 11 as World Parkinson's Day. April 11th marks the birthday of Dr. James Parkinson, the British physician who wrote An Essay on the Shaking Palsy, the first paper to describe Parkinson's disease in detail. Around the world, today is an opportunity for the Parkinson's community to celebrate our victories while drawing attention to improved care and conditions for people living with the disease.
